Our soaps have a balanced combination of 7 fine quality oils: virgin olive oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil and shea butter. Recipes differ in combinations and ratios of these oils. Palm oil (from sustainable sources) is sometimes used in particular bars. We buy palm oil from reputable suppliers who declare their sources.
Each recipe is carefully designed, depending on the desired qualities of the soap.
There are three ways that we make our soaps, Cold Process (CP), Cold Process/Oven Process (CPOP) & Hot Process (HP).
We greatly appreciate the euphoria experienced by the scents added to body products. We use both pure essential oils and carefully picked fragrance oils from well-respected suppliers.
We also use additives for specific purposes. For example, we carry a Greek yoghurt and honey bar, which stands out for its soothing and moisturizing qualities. We also make our Greek krokos and beetroot soap, the tomato and thyme soap, the arbutus and oleander soap. In every one, the ingredients are added through oil infusion or dry additives.
The procedure starts with carefully designing the soap, constructing the formula. The oil combinations are picked and run through a trusted soap calculator to make sure that the soap qualities are well balanced and suited to the desired needs. The essential oils, or fragrance oils, the specific additives and the combination of colors are also part of the particular soap design.
The oil and lye quantities are carefully and exactly measured out and set aside to reach the desired temperatures. Depending on the process used (CP, CPOP, HP) the particular procedure is followed.
After cutting, the soap bars are placed on racks in a well-ventilated room to cure. The climate in Greece is fortunately dry and helps the curing process.
All soaps are tested for their pH value both when made and at the end of the curing period, to make sure that they are mild to be used on the skin. They are then hand wrapped, labelled and packaged for shipping. The procedure is handmade from beginning to end.
